Mother of 6-year-old who shot teacher to plead guilty By Laura Ly and Sara Smart | CNNThe mother of a 6-year-old boy who brought a gun to school and shot his first-grade teacher in January in Newport News, Virginia, will plead guilty to new federal felony charges as part of a deal with prosecutors, her attorney said Monday.Deja Taylor, the 26-year-old mother, was charged with unlawful use of a controlled substance while possessing a firearm and with making a false statement while purchasing the firearm, specifically a semiautomatic handgun, the federal complaint states.Her attorney, James Ellenson, said Taylor’s guilty plea was an “agreed procedure which eliminated the need for the government to take the case to a grand jury.”“Our action follows very constructive negotiations we had with federal authorities. Woman and two children found dead in Fremont, police investigating (KRON) -- A woman and two children were found dead in a residence in Fremont at 1 p.m. on Monday, the Fremont Police Department said. Officers with Fremont PD and Fremont Fire responded to a residence in the 40000 block of Inglewood Commons on a report of an "ascertain a problem" call. One out of every three of San Jose's nearly 1,100 police officers received some type of complaint in 2022, a slight increase over 2021. The city's Office of the Independent Police Auditor released its annual report this week for 2022, containing statistics regarding complaints and investigations into officer conduct. It also makes recommendations to the department to improve policing in the city, which the police chief will respond to at a City Council meeting on Tuesday. 2 arrested for 2021 San Jose homicide (BCN) -- Two suspects have been arrested for the death of a San Jose resident found in Discovery Meadow Park in San Jose in 2021, police said Monday. William Jones, 37, and David Barraza, 30, both of San Jose were arrested late last month on suspicion of killing 41-year-old Wayne Ham of San Jose. Foot patrol officers discovered Ham unconscious and not breathing in the park on Sept. 13, 2021, according to police. Alexis Gabe’s family plans funeral services, ‘Our daughter is coming home’ Medical personnel pronounced Ham dead in the park, police said. An autopsy indicated that Ham was slain, according to police. Officers arrested Jones and Barraza May 25 in San Jose and both have been taken to the Santa Clara County Jail.
