ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Route 85 at the town line between Bethlehem and the city of Albany reopened Thursday after a crash took place on the westbound side around 2:08 p.m. Thursday.Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash. ST. LOUIS - A young woman who was nearly shot to death while she was pregnant shared her story. Four years after the shooting, she's learning to heal and spreading three very important words.“My momma always told me if you smile, people won’t know what you’re going through,” said 19-year-old Daisha George, a shooting victim.On May 15, 2019, on Lucille near Riverview in north St. Louis, when George was a high school freshman, age 15, and 9 months pregnant, she was shot five times by the father of her child.Her life has not been magically transformed since then. She credits something called UnGUN. “I got shot on a Wednesday. I lost my mom on a Friday,” George said. Her mother had ALS and lost hope after hearing about the shooting. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The city goes against Missouri state lawmakers to approve a resolution and become a sanctuary city for the transgender community.The Kansas City Council voted 11-to-1 to approve the ordinance. It says the city will not prosecute or fine any person or organization that provides, seeks, or receives gender-affirming care. That includes puberty blockers, hormones, surgery, and other care.Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas joined other supporters from the Kansas City Council to sign the resolution Thursday afternoon.Councilperson Heather Hall was the lone vote against the ordinance. The city had 1.93 inches of rain, measured at Denver International Airport as of 5 p.m., eclipsing the previous daily mark for May 11 of 1.55 inches, set in 2011.Since the start of the stormy weather Wednesday, Denver has received has received 2.65 inches of rain, as of 6 p.m. Thursday, measured at Denver International Airport. Southern California shelters are bracing for a surge in migrants following the end of Title 42 on Thursday night.Title 42 is the pandemic-era public health order that was put in place in March 2020 that restricted migrants from claiming asylum at the border in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus between countries.
