Chevan Cordeiro stepped into the San Jose State backfield last year as a promising transfer from conference rival Hawaii. After his performance in the 2022 season, expectations have increased for his senior year.Cordeiro was named the Mountain West preseason offensive player of the year on Wednesday, one week before the Spartans begin training camp. The honor comes following a second-team all-conference performance from him in 2022, when he led the Mountain West in passing yards (3,251) and touchdown passes (23) while rushing for nine more scores, a modern-era SJSU record for a quarterback. His top performance of the season was a 340-yard, two-touchdown performance in a comeback win over Nevada on Oct. 29, the Spartans’ first game back after the death of running back Camdan McWright.Cordeiro threw just six interceptions, two of which came in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl loss to Eastern Michigan.Related ArticlesCollege Sports | Defense: ‘Team chemistry’ fa...Draymond Green gets in back-and-forth with Jordan Poole’s dad over punch

Tension that remained following Draymond Green’s punch of Jordan Poole was, at least, part of the reason for Poole’s trade to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul. Green appeared to rekindle some of those tension in a social media back-and-forth with Poole’s father on Wednesday morning. In a clip posted from an appearance on NBA player Patrick Beverley’s podcast, Green alluded to some of the backstory behind him punching Poole in a pre-season practice last October.“I don’t just hit people,” he said. “Dialogue happens over time. You ain’t just triggered by something that fast to that degree. This is a team, ain’t nobody on my team triggering me in an instant. We know stuff that you don’t say amongst men. We know things you have to stand on.”Anthony Poole, Jordan’s father, replied to the Tweet with the clip rebutting Green’s statement.“I’m stand on this that’s is some (expletive),” he Tweet...Did Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello clash over his sober life-style?

Following reports that Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello were “growing apart,” before announcing this week that they planned to divorce, a source close to the couple reveals that their differences were reflected in the fact that he is dedicated to a sober lifestyle and she is not. This source, a friend of the couple, told the Daily Mail that Manganiello, 46, was “warned” about getting into a serious relationship with someone who is not actively sober. The “Magic Mike” star didn’t expect to change Vergara, but he also didn’t consider the implications for their marriage when the two had different attitudes and practices when it comes to alcohol, the friend said.“Of course the fact that Sofia is not sober had an impact on their marriage,” the friend said.LOS ANGELES, CA – JANUARY 29: Actors Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara attend The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 29, 2017 in L...Mega Millions players win $287,200 each in Oakland and San Jose

When the blockbuster movie “Oppenheimer” opens July 21, Bay Area audiences will be introduced to Jean Tatlock, one of the most remarkable people to know and love the UC Berkeley physicist, famous as “The Father of the Atomic Bomb.”The thumbnail version of Tatlock’s life is that she was J. Robert Oppenheimer’s troubled mistress. She also may have been his “truest love,” but her activism in the Bay Area Communist Party in the 1930s threatened his career, both when he was the science director at the top-secret laboratory in Los Alamos, and in the 1950s, when anti-Communist fervor was at its heights and he endured a humiliating grilling by the Atomic Energy Commission and loss of his security clearance.Tatlock, a Stanford-trained psychiatrist, died tragically by suicide at the age of 29 – some seven months after Oppenheimer drew the alarm of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover by flying back to San Francisco in June 1943 to meet her and spend one final night with her in her Telegra...Before you play in an office lottery pool, read this

Why play alone, when your odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are a measly 1 in 292,200,000? They could mean the difference between buying your own private island vs. crying softly at your desk while your coworkers are on their islands.Do:Designate a leader. And make sure he or she is highly organized. Because this isn’t just about collecting money and buying tickets. The organizer will also have to:Give everyone copies or photos of pool tickets. Wouldn’t it be terrible if your pool leader said the team won nothing, but amazingly he or she hit the jackpot with a self-purchased ticket? It’s happened before. In 2013, a ...Latest news
