A man convicted of two carjackings, including one following a police pursuit in Little Canada when a suspect threw a puppy from a moving vehicle, received a federal sentence of nearly 18 years this week.Donovan Alan Goodman, 34, “brazenly carjacked strangers and risked countless lives during his erratic efforts to flee police all while illegally possessing and threatening others with a firearm,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Minnesota wrote in a court document.Donovan Alan Goodman. St. Paul police are investigating the shooting of a woman in her late 20s early Thursday morning.According to St. Paul police spokesman Mike Ernster, about 2 a.m. officers responded to reports of a woman shot in the 300 block of Erie Street. When they arrived they found a woman in her late 20s with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower leg.The suspect, believed to be the woman’s husband, was taken into custody on the 1300 block of Van Buren Avenue by officers and booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.The shooting remains under investigation. Two people died at BART stations on Wednesday night, authorities reported Thursday. Both deaths were suspected to have been related to fentanyl/other drugs, given that Narcan — a medicine given to help people who are overdosing on an opioid — was deployed in the case of each individual.The first death occurred at the Fruitvale Station in Oakland, after BART Police Officers and medical personnel responded around 6:19 p.m. to an alert about an unresponsive male. A dose of Narcan was administered to the subject and medical personnel began doing life-saving measures, before ultimately declaring the individual dead. (KRON) -- On Thanksgiving morning, the Pleasant Hill Police Department arrested a suspect they say stole mail from more than 10 houses on various streets.A good Samaritan reported a man stealing mail from his neighbor's mailbox Thursday morning. The suspect, 20-year-old Samuel Amaro of Concord, tried to flee from police in a car. (KRON) -- The Napa Police Department is warning residents of scam calls that are impersonating its detectives and spoofing the non-emergency phone number.One resident reported that they received a phone call from someone identifying themselves as Detective Bill Hernandez of Napa PD, police said. The scammer added that they were also from Homeland Security and asked questions about the resident’s credit cards and purchases. Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving at least 10 vehicles on Interstate 95 northeast of Baltimore, according to Maryland State Police.The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on I-95 in Edgewood, Maryland.Harford County Fire and EMS said volunteer firefighters responded to the crash and were checking a total of 20 people for injuries.State police said there’s no word on the condition of the two people taken to the hospital.The fire department said the crash blocked three left lanes of northbound I-95.Two lanes were getting by the crash scene in the area.SourceLatest news
